Austin Regional Clinic is pleased to announce that Azure G. Adkins, MD, General Surgeon, has joined the team at ARC Medical Plaza Specialty.
Dr. Adkins says, “I have always liked working with my hands - as a teenager I took Robotics courses, created origami, and was known as a doodler; creating intricate patterns on my papers.” She explains how this influenced her choice of medical specialty. Dr. Adkins says, “Due to my interest in science I was guided by an advisor to pursue medical school, where I quickly realized that the only choice for me was to become a surgeon.”
“After finishing general surgery residency I chose pursue a fellowship in minimally invasive, robotic, and bariatric surgery to increase my technical abilities,” says Dr. Adkins. “My career is ever-evolving to include new innovations and technology.”
Open Communication and Transparency
”I want to help guide my patients through what can be a confusing and often stressful time,” says Dr. Adkins. “Open communication and transparency are ways that I ensure my patients are as comfortable as they can be with their care. Taking care of patients as though they were my own family is my general philosophy.”
When asked about what advice she gives her patients, Dr. Adkins says, “If everyone could work on decreasing their processed food and animal-product intake, this would have huge positive impact in so many ways. There is mounting evidence that a whole foods plant-based diet can prevent and even reverse many chronic diseases, including obesity.”
An Austin resident since the age of 7, Dr. Adkins says that in her free time, she enjoys “spending time with my family and friends. My husband and I like to take our son to parks and for long walks with our dog. We are looking forward to exploring the plant-based food scene in Austin, too!”
