Active Listening is the Key
February 14, 2020
Austin Regional Clinic is pleased to announce that James C. Anderson, IV, MD, Pediatrician, has joined the team at ARC Far West.
Dr. Anderson says that in addition to practicing general pediatrics, seeing kids from birth through adolescence for all pediatric issues, he also has extensive experience in behavioral health. He says, “Over my past 23 years of pediatric practice, I have specialized in the treatment of pediatric mental health and behavioral medicine, specifically in the areas of ADHD, anxiety, depression, and medication management of autism.”
Helping Patients Discover Their Own Unique Gifts
“Each of these children and families has their own unique story and challenges,” continues Dr. Anderson, “And I am blessed when I have the opportunity to help them along this journey to overcome their individual challenges and discover their own unique gifts and talents.”
When discussing his philosophy of practice, Dr. Anderson says, “Active listening and involving both parents and patients is the key to a successful relationship with my patients.”
What advice does Dr. Anderson give his patients and their families? "If your child has ADHD, remember that it does not go away on weekends, holidays, and vacations. Focus and attention are important in social interactions, outside activities, driving, and work. Continue the medication your physician has prescribed for the best outcome and to decrease side effects of starting and stopping the medication."
In his free time, Dr. Anderson can be found with his wife on their boat, visiting family in Horseshoe Bay, being active outside, playing ice hockey, or walking their dog, Kirby, who is named after the University of Georgia Bulldogs football coach.
