Focus on Acne

image Your acne expert is Dr. Steven Rasmussen.

He is Board Certified in Dermatology.

Is Accutane (isotretinoin) safe for the treatment of acne?

Isotretinoin, more commonly referred to as Accutane, has been around for almost 50 years and has proven to be a safe and effective treatment for millions of patients with acne. Over 90% of patients who have used isotretinoin were cured of their acne. For patients with chronic and/or refractory acne, isotretinoin can provide the most reliable and effective treatment option available. If administered early enough, it can save almost everyone from acne scarring. While no medication is absolutely safe, isotretinoin is a safe and very effective treatment when administered under physician care.

Call (512) 482-9344 to discuss this and other acne treatment options with Dr. Rasmussen at eŌs Dermatology & Med Spa by Austin Regional Clinic.
