Austin Regional Clinic creates new award for physicians
May 11, 2012. Austin Regional Clinic created and presented a new award at its bi-annual Shareholders Meeting on Tuesday, May 8.
The Dr. Larry Kravitz Award for Outstanding Service to ARC and the Community was given to Dr. Kravitz in a surprise presentation by Dr. James Merryman, President of the ARC Board.
The award recognizes exceptional service and leadership to both the organization and to the communities ARC serves, and beyond into the global community. It will be awarded annually to an ARC physician who demonstrates the award’s criteria.
Dr. Kravitz has an extensive background of both professional and community service, including
32 years of practice in Family Medicine, 24 of those with Austin Regional Clinic
Nominee, Physician of the Year, Travis County Medical Society, 2011
Team physician for the Austin Toros Basketball and Texas Stars Hockey teams
Mentoring medical students from Baylor College of Medicine, Vanderbilt University Nurse Practitioner Program, and Texas Tech Nurse Practitioner Program. .
Mentoring Anderson High School (Austin) Robotics Team and University of Texas Biomedical Engineering Students in creating a unique knee brace to help osteoarthritis patients who have unsuccessfully tried other options
Expert panelist for the Texas Medical Board
Dr. Kravitz is also a member of the Nitro Masters Swimming Team, placing in the top ten in two competitions in the 2012 U.S. Masters Swimming Spring Nationals.
