AUSTIN REGIONAL CLINIC COOK-OFF and COOKBOOK SALES BENEFIT LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS

October 18, 2010.  Austin Regional Clinic (ARC) and Covenant Management Systems (CMS) presented checks to three local non-profit organizations today, concluding a 7-month employee event, a Cook-Off/Recipe Contest and cookbook sales.

The Austin Humane Society, Capital Area Food Bank, and the Austin Division, March of Dimes each received $470 from ARC/CMS as proceeds from the Cook-Off and Cookbook sales.

In March, 2010, ARC and CMS employees were invited to participate in a first-ever Cook-Off and Recipe Contest. Each administrative and clinic location held its own cook-off to generate one winner per location, chosen from among several categories. Then all the winners – who became semi-finalists – were invited to showcase their creations in a Final Round. Dishes were entered in five categories: Appetizers, Side Dishes, Salads, Main Dishes, and Desserts.

Three recipes were chosen following the final judging on April 23. Top honors went to Christine Shipman, R.N., a nursing supervisor at ARC Round Rock, for her Blackened Chicken Pasta.

All recipes entered in the contest were published in an ARC/CMS Cookbook available for purchase to all employees, with proceeds to be donated to the top three non-profits chosen by employees. The Austin Humane Society, Capital Area Food Bank, and the Austin Division of the March of Dimes  were designated the recipients of the cookbook sales.

Whitney Hanson, Marketing Associate,Austin Humane Society; Molly Robbins, Community Events Manager, Capital Area Food Bank; and Jori Sitz, Senior Community Director, Austin Division March of Dimes, received the checks from Dr. Norman Chenven, ARC CEO & Founder, Bob Martin, Director of Human Resources, and Christine Shipman, R.N.

“Giving back to the community is an important part of ARC,” commented Dr. Chenven. “Our employees are proud to support local organizations through activities like this one.”
