Austin Regional Clinic CEO receives special recognition
Dr. Norman Chenven awarded Volunteer of the Year by Austin Chamber
At this year's Annual Meeting of the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce at the Hilton Hotel on February 6, the Chamber honored our own Dr. Norman Chenven as a Volunteer of the Year, for his volunteer work on the Chamber's Education committee.
In addition to Dr. Chenven, other volunteers recognized by the Chamber included Rachel Johnston, OperTuneUs, Inc for the Ambassador Program; Jerry Converse, Fulbright & Jaworski for Government Relations; Freelance Writer Julie Tereshchuk for Small Business; Paul Bury, Bury & Partners for Economic Development; Jamie Rhodes, Perceptive Sciences for Technology; and Terry Green, Omni Hotel for Communications.
Gary Farmer, President of Heritage Title Company of Austin, received the award of "Austinite of the Year," for his contributions to Economic Development in Central Texas over the past several years. For the last several years he served as Chair of the Greater Austin Economic Development Corporation and Opportunity Austin, the Chamber's five-year economic plan to create 72,000 jobs. Farmer exceeded fundraising goals for the initiative by bringing in $14 million for the project.
Dr. Chenven expressed gratitude for his award saying, "It has been a great honor to serve on the education committee and work toward a common good that benefits both the individuals in our growing community as well as the businesses who need an educated work force."
